Sun Yuen Hing Kee

Located next to Sheung Wan market, this traditionally styled, simple but well maintained barbecue shop has been run by the same family since the mid-1970s. Over the years they’ve built up an appreciative following so the small place fills quickly. The appetising looking suckling pigs are not the only draw: roast pork, duck and pigeon all have their followers, as do the soft-boiled chicken, the homemade sausages and the preserved meats.

Signature dishes include Suckling pig and Roasted rice.

Michelin Award: Bib Gourmand

UNDERSTANDING THE MICHELIN AWARDS

Hong-Kong-food-guide-Michelin-Culinary-Pictograms.jpg

STAR: Coveted by many chefs but bestowed upon only to an excellent few. Getting a star (or three) could change the fate of a restaurant.

BIB GOURMAND: Good quality, good value cooking.

Not quite a star, but most definitely not a consolation prize, the Bib Gourmand is a just-as-esteemed rating that recognizes friendly establishments that serve good food at moderate prices.

PLATE: Fresh ingredients, carefully prepared: a good meal.

In 2016 a brand new L’assiette or The Plate symbol was launched to recognize restaurants that 'simply serve good food'.
