Family Fun on Lantau Island: Explore with Hello Hong Kong

Lantau Island, the largest island in Hong Kong, is known for its stunning landscapes, cultural landmarks, and unique experiences. For families looking to explore this beautiful part of Hong Kong, the Private Lantau Island Tour offers a perfect mix of adventure, culture, and relaxation.

Just like Amel's family, who recently embarked on an 8-hour Private Lantau tour, families can enjoy a seamless and fun-filled day guided by one of Hello Hong Kong's expert guides. Amel's family, began their journey from their hotel in Wan Chai. Their guide, Kiyo, met them bright and early, ready to kick off the day's adventure.

The day started with a subway ride to Tung Chung, where they boarded the Ngong Ping 360 cable car, a highlight for the kids. The cable car ride offered breathtaking views of Tung Chung Bay, Hong Kong Airport Island, and the iconic Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macau Bridge. The weather was perfect, with clear skies allowing them to see all the way to the skyscrapers in Shenzhen and Macau.

Upon arriving in Ngong Ping, the family walked through the charming Ngong Ping Market towards the Big Buddha. The Tian Tan Buddha, the largest outdoor bronze seated Buddha in the world, stood tall and magnificent. Climbing the 229 steps to reach the base of the Buddha was a fun challenge for the kids, especially Aydin, who proudly verified the number of steps. Once at the top, Kiyo shared fascinating stories about Buddhism and the design of the Buddha statue, while the family marveled at the relic of Buddha inside the statue.

Next on the itinerary was a visit to the peaceful Po Lin Monastery, where the family got to taste some authentic Hong Kong tofu pudding. It was a delightful surprise that the kids loved this local dessert!

The adventure continued with a taxi ride to Tai O, a picturesque fishing village known for its stilt houses. The family hopped on a speedboat to get up close to these unique homes and ventured out to sea in search of the elusive Chinese white dolphins. To their amazement, they spotted at least two dolphins, a rare sight given that only about 40 are left in Hong Kong.

For lunch, the family dined at the historic Tai O Heritage Hotel, a beautifully converted old police station. They enjoyed delicious fried rice, fish, and chips, and later indulged in sticky rice dumplings and Chinese sugar doughnuts at the Tai O market.
