Tim Ho Wan (Sham Shui Po)

Tim Ho Wan is a dim sum restaurant with one Michelin star where every dish is steamed upon order.  The second branch of this famous dim sum chain is roomier than the original, but don’t be surprised to still find a queue of expectant diners at the entrance. Over 20 different dim sum are on offer, all skilfully made and reasonably priced. Some items rotate every two to three months to keep the menu fresh. Two rooms on the first floor offer more privacy.

Signature dishes include: Sticky rice in lotus leaf in tradtional style, Steamed Rice Roll. Sweet Medlar Laurel Blossom Cake, Steamed Prawn Dumplings and Baked Barbecued Pork Bun Pastry.

Michelin Award: One MICHELIN Star

UNDERSTANDING THE MICHELIN AWARDS

Hong-Kong-foodie-michelin-culinary-pictograms.jpg

STAR: Coveted by many chefs but bestowed upon only to an excellent few. Getting a star (or three) could change the fate of a restaurant.

BIB GOURMAND: Good quality, good value cooking.

Not quite a star, but most definitely not a consolation prize, the Bib Gourmand is a just-as-esteemed rating that recognizes friendly establishments that serve good food at moderate prices.

PLATE: Fresh ingredients, carefully prepared: a good meal.

In 2016 a brand new L’assiette or The Plate symbol was launched to recognize restaurants that 'simply serve good food'.
