Tsim Chai Kee (Wellington Street)
This highly regarded, simple noodle shop has been here since 1998 and is easy to spot – just look for the lunchtime queues. The staff are as bright as their aprons; the popular side booths are quickly snapped up; and the regulars know to eat outside peak times when the pace is less frenetic. The attraction is the handmade fish balls, the generously filled wontons and the beef; ordering a three topping noodle is the way to go.
Signature dishes include Wonton Noodles, Fish Ball Noodles and Beef Noodles.

UNDERSTANDING THE MICHELIN AWARDS
STAR: Coveted by many chefs but bestowed upon only to an excellent few. Getting a star (or three) could change the fate of a restaurant.
BIB GOURMAND: Good quality, good value cooking.
Not quite a star, but most definitely not a consolation prize, the Bib Gourmand is a just-as-esteemed rating that recognizes friendly establishments that serve good food at moderate prices.
PLATE: Fresh ingredients, carefully prepared: a good meal.
In 2016 a brand new L’assiette or The Plate symbol was launched to recognize restaurants that 'simply serve good food'.
