HELLO! HONG KONG TOURS | SPOTLIGHT ON: ALLEN
HONG-KONG-TOUR.png

Spotlight On: ALLEN

In this episode of Spotlight On we meet Allen. Allen is one of our office staff and she will be your first point of contact when you email us. She is the queen of operations managing everyone’s schedule and also takes care of all of the big travel agencies that regularly book tours with us. In short, she is the Boss Lady! We asked Allen some questions about some of her favorite things in Hong Kong.

hong-kong-private-food-tour.png

What's your favorite food and where would you recommend people to get it?

Any local noodle shops are my go-to places to get Ngau Lam Min (beef brisket noodles) and Yit Lai Cha (hot milk tea). They serve the authentic Hong Kong noodles taste! They seldom speak English so you better know the Cantonese name of the food if you go there. In my case, I order the same thing every time so it's easy!

Whats your favourite place in Hong Kong?

Cheung Chau Island - It is just a few minutes away from the city. I love the ferry ride over, the seafood there and of course the relaxing view while just having a stroll around the island.

Other fun facts about Allen

Something not many people know about Allen:

I am very much into music, so other than singing (on the side), I also play guitar, ukulele and a little bit of piano.

Hello! Hong Kong Tours | Best 5 Heritage Bridges In Hong Kong

Hong Kong is a concrete jungle known for its buzzing nightlife, bustling business ventures, and easy and reliable transportation system. One of the reasons why it is easy to travel around the city is because of the convenient connecting bridges that have served as vital transportation links from the New Territories to the city.

Hello-Hong-kong-Tsing-Ma-Bridge

Tsing Ma Bridge

The bridge was named after the two islands it connects, namely Tsing Yi and Ma Wan. It is the world's 14th-longest span suspension bridge, and was the second-longest at the time of completion. Did you know that prior to the completion of the Tsing Ma Bridge, Lantau Island could only be accessed by water, and was completely rural? Now, thanks to this bridge you can now visit the Lantau island in a breeze!. Another exciting way to see the AWEmazing structure of the Tsing Ma bridge is when you take a sightseeing helicopter tour, You can experience and see the beauty of the Tsing Ma Bridge on our 30-Minute Lion RockPrivate Flight and catch the perfect sunset whilst onboard the airconditioned MD902 Explorer Twin-Engine Helicopter.

Hello-Hong-Kong-Ap-Lei-Chau-Bridge

Ap Lei Chau Bridge

Also know as Aberdeen Bridge, this bridge connects the island of Ap Lei Chau (Aberdeen Island) to the community of Aberdeen on Hong Kong Island. It allows pedestrian access where you can have a ten-minute walk between Aberdeen and Ap Lei Chau which see the view of the typhoon shelter. Aberdeen is also known for Sampan rides so feel like a local, and experience the traditional watercraft that Chinese fisherman families lived centuries ago when you book our private customised tour!

Hello-Hong-Kong-Tai-Chung-Bridge-Tai-O.jpg

Tai Chung Bridge - Tai O

Located at Tai-O fishing village, this small, blue pedestrian-only bridge is a great way to see the famous stilt houses. When you book our full-day Lantau tour, you will be able to see and cross this bridge. Not only that, you will be able to ride a boat in Tai-O together with our Hello! Hong Kong tour guides. On the boat boat ride, you will be able to see the Macau Bridge and if you are lucky, get a chance to see the pink dolphins!

source

Hello-Hong Kong-Macau- Bridge.jpg

Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge

Last BUT definitely not the least on our list, is the famous Hong Kong-Zhuhai Macau bridge. It is the longest sea-crossing and the longest open-sea fixed link in the world. The 45-minute drive away is convenient and easy access to and from Macau, where traditionally can be accessed via Star Ferry which is an hour-long ferry ride. Since you are crossing two cities, it is still required to pass the immigration department of both, so don’t forget to bring your passport and other important documents for immigration requirements.

Hello! Hong Kong Tours |Where To Stay In Hong Kong

Choosing the right hotel when you travel is one of the most important tasks. Location, price, reviews, easy access to transportation, nearby malls, and other tourist attractions are important things to consider when looking for a hotel.

Hello! Hong Kong Tours Team has listed different districts in Hong Kong to help you decide on which locations are most suitable for your Hong Kong tour.

Hello-Hong-Kong-Tours-hotels

TSIM SHA TSUI (KOWLOON SIDE) - It has the highest concentration of hotels where you will get the best view of the HK Island skyline from.

TSIM SHA TSUI EAST (KOWLOON SIDE) - It is home to a few of the big hotels and the fantastic History Museum. The views of the skyline from hotels in this area are spectacular. Of course, you have to get the harbor view room!

MONGKOK (KOWLOON SIDE) - If you want a place closer to the local markets, and feel the local vibe, this district is just right for you. You can find a lot of cheap hotel options in this neighborhood. Including the short stay variety!

CENTRAL (HK ISLAND SIDE) - This is probably the most convenient area to stay in Hong Kong. The transport links are excellent. however, convenience and glamour come with a price tag!

SHEUNG WAN (HK ISLAND SIDE) - If you want a more traditional, quiet convenience, this is the right place for you. It has many of the conveniences of Central but without the hefty price tag.

WAN CHAI (HK ISLAND SIDE) - If you want a ‘good fun’ environment with lots of bars playing live music and offering happy hours.

We put together a list of hotels in each district to help you decide on where to stay on your next Singapore trip.

Hong Kong Activities | Dragon Boat Festival

Today marks the annual Dragon boat festival. Looking back at the pre-pandemic time, people gather to see colorful boats, hear the thumping of drums, and see excited crowds cheering their team favorites in the friendly Dragon boat race.

Now that social distancing is still in force, you may need to check the activity before you leave your house to make sure that these Hong Kong activities are still running. Despite the restriction, the traditions on how people celebrate the festival will never fade.

Here are the top five traditions that Chinese people observe during the Dragon boat festival

ROW ROW ROW YOUR BOAT

A dragon boat festival will never be the same without the iconic friendly competition dragon boat race. This tradition is to commemorate the life of Qu Yuan, a patriotic poet, and exiled official in ancient China. Qu Yuan drowned himself in the river as an act of protest. In order to save him, locals rushed in boats to save him thus, the dragon race was born.

Don’t forget the Zong-zi (粽子)

Zong Zi is a sticky rice dumpling stuffed with different fillings wrapped in bamboo leaves. It is commonly eaten during the Dragon boat festival. It was believed that when locals tried to save Qu Yuan, they throw the rice dumplings wrapped in bamboo leaves into the river so the fish would eat the grains instead of Yuan's body.

Paper shapes predator decorations

It is believed that cutting out the shapes of five poisonous creatures to ward off evil spirits causes disease. It is sometimes seen sticking stick on windows, doors, and walls.

Wear perfume Pouches

During Dragon Boat Festival perfume pouches are hung around kids' necks. as it is believed to protect them from evil.

Charms all the way

During the Dragon boat festival, people wear lucky bracelets on their necks, feet, or wrists which symbolizes longevity,
