Hello! Hong Kong Tours | Cheung Yeung 2021

It is the time of the year once again when our Hong Kong friends celebrate the annual Cheung Yeung festival. Similar to the Ching Ming Festival in April, Hong Kong families visit the graves and cemeteries to honor and worship their ancestors by means of cleaning and making offerings.

Families often hike before visiting the graves and aim to “go high” as per their ancient customs. They believe it brings them good luck.

Cheung Yeung festival is also a public holiday so most businesses and all schools are closed on this day giving everyone in the city more time to spend time with the family.

It will be a rainy celebration for the Cheung Yueng fetival as the city was hit by two typhoons in a span of days. Your Hello! Hong Kong Tours Team wishes you all a safe celebration!

Hong-Kong-Sailing-CampsitesinHK

Tai Long Sai Wan

One of the beaches in Tai long wan and has been described as one of the best scenic spots in Sai Kung East or even Hong Kong. This campsite is popular on weekends for families and friends because of its white sand and clear blue waters.

Ham Tin Tsuen

A hidden gem in Sai Kung and a favorite camping sites for Hikers. Ham Tin area is set in a rural landscape, surrounded by mountains, with one main river flowing directly into Ham Tin Wan, one of the four bays forming Tai Long Wan.

Long Ke Wan

The beach was mentioned by CNN as "one of the best beaches in the world” because of its crystal clear waters and fine sand. It has easier to access than Ham Tin and Swai Wan making it easier for families with kids to camp here. It is a dog-friendly beach too! There are no restaurants or stores in the area so be sure to bring everything as there is no restaurant here.

While these campsites give the best panoramic view of the beach, none of the beaches in the Tai Long Wan area is suitable for swimming because of the presence of strong rip currents year-round. It is always best to listen to the expert advice of your Skipper.

I love Egg Waffles and there are many places around Hong Kong that serve this tasty street snack. I like to grab one from one of the local vendors if I am in Sham Shui Po which is a very local area of Hong Kong. I often find myself in Sheung Wan where there is the much loved famous "mammy pancake" who do plain egg waffles as well as lots of different toppings, including chocolate and peanut butter!

Hello Hong Kong
Hong Kong Activity | Mooncake Festival

Mid Autumn is just around the corner! The celebration marks the end of the autumn harvest and was traditionally a time to give thanks to the gods. It is also a time of year that the moon is at its brightest. This Hong Kong activity is the time where families get together eating dinner, sharing mooncakes, worshiping the moon with gifts, displaying lanterns, and do other activities.

As the Pandemic hits the world, there has been a huge change in how people celebrate the festival. As the quarantine and restriction prevented families to be together, the rise of online celebrations became more frequent. Thanks to technology, people were still able to see each other and celebrate during this very important tradition.

The good news is, now that more people are getting vaccinated, restrictions are starting to relax thus, allowing people to be able to visit their family, provided that they are following social distancing guidelines of course.

So take out your facemasks, alcohol and santizer and explore our beautiful city as there are plenty of photo perfect decoration, traditions, staycations, and various activities around the city!
